Ride the Whirlwind
I haven't forgotten about you, honest.
I've just been a little busy.
Funny how living can get in the way of things like Facebook updates and blog posts, which at one time were such a big part of a life. My life anyhow.
I'm working on my schedule. I'd like to spend more time here. You see, I've learned a few things on this journey I've been on for, oh, say the last year or so. I want to share those insights with you. That's why I started this blog to start with. Sharing.
But it might take a little time to get back up to full blogging strength.
For right now, though, I'm just trying to stay in the moment. Not get lost in my head by trying to predict the outcome or second guess the past. Just sit with myself and breathe. Not something I've ever been very good at.
Here's a little something I've been diggin' on lately. To keep you occupied until our next chat.
I've always enjoyed Pearl Jam. Never really liked any of their albums as much as Ten. But their latest, Backspacer, really hit me. I haven't had a chance to really listen to the whole thing, but there are some great songs on it. Find it.
This is Just Breathe (to keep with our theme)

On the Road
I've been driving now for close to three weeks. It's been an amazing journey so far and there's still more to come. I hope to get some photos up here sooner or later from the trek. But until then you can use this link to see some of what we've done so far.
I'll be talking to you soon about "Home" and "Camping" and "Being a Foreigner in Your Own Country" and "Simplicity" and much, much more. It's late and I'm bushed but there are tales to tell and lessons to glean.
Oh, all right, I'll give you a little nibble.

This picture was taken in a tiny chapel in the St. Roch's Cemetery in New Orleans. St. Roch (who I don't believe is a real saint) is believed to be the patron saint of healing. So people would make casts of the body parts that were giving them troubles and place them in this room. It was filled with casts of hands and feet, tiny pairs of leg braces and even a set of fake eyes. It was amazing.
Come back soon to hear more about it.
Be well.

Unemployed
I quit my job.
Finally.
After nearly ten years.
It was time.
Well. It was way past due. It was, after all, only supposed to be a temporary position. And, I suppose, in the cosmic timeline sense of things, it was.
At least I won't have to throw myself out the window.
Now let's see what the next 365 days have in store for me.
